A follow-up thought. I assume you installed the W7/64-bit drivers from the link you posted.the file name is. That should install ISIS and TWAIN drivers for the DR-2050C. If you''d like to confirm that you can scan with your scanner, I suggest trying IrfanView, excellent (free!) imaging software that I''ve been using for many years: Click the Download link on the left to download IrfanView and click the PlugIns link on the left to download the PlugIns, which are needed to give you PDF capability (it''s optional.only if you want PDF support.and the other features that come with the PlugIns). Install IrfanView first, then install the PlugIns (again, it''s optional, but I think it''s a good idea). When you run IrfanView, click the File menu and pick [Select Scan/TWAIN Source.]. There you should see the TWAIN driver for your DR-2050C (there may be other devices in the list). Highlight the DR-2050C and click the Select button. Then click the File menu again and pick [Acquire/Batch scanning.]. You will get a scanning setup dialog.fill it out however you want and click OK. You should then see Canon''s TWAIN scanning dialog for your DR-2050C, where you should be able to initiate a scan. I''m not saying that IrfanView is the long-term scanning solution for you, but it''s a quick, easy, free way to see if your scanner works. Regards, Joe. ![]() ![]() ImageFORMULA is not the name of the software.it''s the name of the Canon product line. In other words, your scanner is the imageFORMULA DR-2050C. The software that came bundled with the imageFORMULA DR-2050C is CapturePerfect 3.0, BizCard Reader 5 SE, PaperPort 11 Standard, and OmniPage SE 4. None of that software is downloadable from the Canon site. There are downloadable updates available for CapturePerfect, but not the full version (the presumption is that you have the original full version installed from the media that came with the scanner). If you don''t have the media that came with the scanner, you may want to contact Canon to get it. Once you get the base CapturePerfect, you can probably update it to a version that is compatible with W7/64-bit via website downloads. I don''t know anything about BizCard Reader, but that''s not important, as it is just a business card reading app. I know a lot about PaperPort (document management/imaging software) and OmniPage (OCR software), and I can tell you that PP11 and OP4 are long in the tooth and not certified on W7/64-bit, although they''ll work to a certain extent on it. My advice is to forget OP (unless you have extreme OCR needs) and get a copy of the latest PP, which is 14 (there was a PP12 but no PP13). PP14 comes in Professional and standard editions. You''ll be fine with the standard edition, which supports both ISIS and TWAIN, so it will handle your DR-2050C fine. But it''s not free software, so you may want to press Canon for a free copy of CapturePerfect (or, at most, pay for media and shipping/handling costs). Regards, Joe. Recent upgrade to W7 and am trying to get my Canon DR-2850C scanner working. Got and installed the driver package from Canon that supposedly works with W7. When I click the icon in the control panel I get a message that says ''You need a WIA driver to use this device'' and it invites me to install it from my mfr CD, which I don''t have anymore and anyway was not compatible with W7. So what can I do? Incidentally, Canon apparently doesn''t want to be asked about this because I can''t find any link for support for this product. The contact link on their site goes to ''sales and general inquiries.'' Anyone know where I can get a TWAIN driver for W7? Forgot to add--there is another driver on the labeled ''DR-2580C Job Tool Version 2.6 for Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP3, XP 64bit, Vista SP1 and Vista 64bit.'' That might have the TWAIN driver, but it doesn''t say it''s W7 compatible so I''m not sure whether to try it. I experienced the same error message. After emailing customer support, this was their reply, ''When scanning, you will need to use a scanning program such as CapturePerfect (included with the unit) or some other program that supports the industry standard TWAIN or ISIS interface(s). The WIA interface used by the Devices and Printers Scanner Wizard is not supported by the scanner driver, thus the Scanner Wizard does not connect with the scanner.'' I installed the W7 driver as well. Then I installed the CapturePerfect program as suggested, scanned a document, then closed CapturePerfect, went to another application and the scanner worked using the TWAIN driver installed as you suggested in your first post. When I click the scanner icon in control panel it throws a popup that says: You need a WIA driver to use this device and it invites me to install it from my mfr CD, which I dont have anymore and anyway. No need to install other software, download 2580DRIT_V18.exe and 2580JOB.exe from Canons site.
